Parkinson’s Awareness Community Expo

April is Parkinson’s Disease Awareness month.  In observance of this occasion, Interfaith Caregivers is hosting a community expo at the Blue Earth Senior Center.  We’ll have interactive sessions, prizes, and Ice Cream!  Here is the line-up:

Featured Presentation – “Strategies for Maintaining Mobility and Daily Activities”  Rose Wichmann, PT.  Manager, Struthers Parkinson’s Center, Golden Valley, MN.

Demonstrations:
The LSVT BIG© Program
LSVT BIG is a physical therapy program for improving motor skills in individuals with PD and similar conditions.  The sixteen-week program is available through United Hospital.  Jenna Koenig, PT & Stacy Beyer, PTA, United Hospital.

Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance.
Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance is designed to improve the strength, balance, and physical functioning of individuals with diminished physical abilities, including older adults and those with PD.  Interfaith Caregivers.

Delay the Disease™
Delay the Disease is a fitness program designed to empower people with PD to take control of the disease with daily exercise.  Tabetha Ernster, PTA, Center for Specialty Care.

This event is for caregivers, people with Parkinson’s or related diseases, and those who like ice cream.  Admission is free.
